GlobeCaster 3.1 Software

This new software version is a good step forward in the continuing development of the GlobeCaster platform. Most of the new features and enhancements are the results of direct input from GlobeCaster users. The list below is a highlight of the main features of this new release.

This release will only function on a GlobeCaster or an upgraded Trinity that is running version 3.0 or later software.

Note:Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional support only. Windows NT is no longer supported.

Note:The legacy Graham Patton audio module is also no longer supported.

Note: This version REQUIRES a 1 MB Static RAM module on the Coordinator Card. If the GlobeCaster has a Time Machine or a DV/IO card, this memory module has been installed. This new version of software will not function without this memory update. Click here to check your Coordinator Card's memory

This is a full installation of the GlobeCaster software. If you require CD media for GlobeCaster 3.1, there is a $9.95 shipping and handling charge. The CD media contains both the software and content along with the documentation. Please contact GlobalStreams Technical Support via email at A credit card will be required. Please allow 2 weeks for delivery via post. If you need the media faster, an additional shipping charge will be applied.

Following are a list of some of the major enhancements and bug fixes included with this version:

  • Support for the NEW DSK card that has 1GB RAM
  • The addition of eight mixer channels for a total of sixteen configurable mixer channels in Switcher. Eight mixer channels are dedicated to the eight back panel input analog channels, and the remaining eight channels are dedicated for digital channels, such as the Time Machine audio channels or DVIO audio.
  • Sound Effects with DVE effects. Easily assocaite a TM Audio clip with a FX or DSK.
  • ClipGrab input monitors. Access each source to monitor. Add a 2nd ClipGrab for better performance.
  • Animated Picons of FX and DSKs
  • Preview Effects
  • Remote Camara Contorl for Sony BRC-300
  • VTR Transport Control from the CS-1000
  • 8th Input Selector
  • 4th Video Track in Editor to function as a clipboard
  • Audio animate within Editor
  • Extended dissolve properies
  • Load and Save layers in Animator Compositor
  • Save as TM Clip in Effects Generator
  • Autosave in Effects Generator
  • When transitioning from Add Clip Mode (or another 2-4 panel mode) to View Mode, the audio should no longer cut out
  • Added support for Toggle Panel macros
  • Audio Mixer's fader value tooltips should now be constrained to the active window
  • More fixes to audio for handling Fade In & Fade Out commands and stereo mode settings for 16 channel audio
  • The Min and Max audio level values should now work properly for audio channels 9-16
  • Fixed Effect Properties panel update
  • Global Settings panels now contain (mutually exclusive) buttons for detecting the CS-1000 or CS-100. They have corresponding status LEDs.
  • TMBackup: The lower right image now displays the first frame of the currently selected TM Clip or Time Machine Backup file of the right listbox
  • When editing the name of a picon in the bin, you can click out to save the change
  • Minor changes improve listbox management
  • Now handles new macro commands: CutLockOn, CutLockOff, and SetMixerMode
  • Fixed the index bug w.r.t. the AFV and Lock buttons on the Mixer Preferences Panel
  • Fixed the bug with Lock buttons not locking the proper channel (which caused the not enough TM channels error)
  • When using macros, the warning about the TM not having audio mixer channels is shown in the status box, not popped up in a message box
  • Effect Properties Panel is now updated if an effect is loaded over the one that is currently displayed
  • If a event fails to load when loading a timeline, the timeline is scrolled to the event that failed and the event is highlighted in red (instead of the normal yellow)
  • Audio child tracks are no longer created when dropping a clip on an effect
  • Fixed bug where deleting the texture did not update the panel or stroke properly
  • Stroke properties panels should now update properly when selecting a new stroke
